Day 6

On saterday morning after camping in a moss covered forest we went on a whale and wild life excursion, in Fjords National Park. In was, to say the least, beautifull. we saw a hole bunch of animals on our boat ride though out the park. We saw seals, sea lions (scratch his ass on a rock), sea otter, we saw a little bit of a minke whale, on our way to a huge bright blue glaicer where we watched and listened to Big peaces of ice fall off and into the water making huge waves that would rock the boat. When the Ice would crack and fall it sounded like thunder times ten. On our way back a bunch of dolphins that where black and white followed the boat. About 30 min. after the excitement of the dophins Megan spoted some thing off in the distance. She told the captain that she saw a whale. The captain swong the boat around a followed the whale. it turned out to be 4 or 5 killer whales and a couple of baby whales. Megan said it was one of the most beautiful things she has ever seen. After that we went to a few different ilands where a bunch of different kinds of birds like coramants, puffins and all sorts of gulls were nesting on the rock cliffs of the islands. Before we got back into the bay we stoped off at a island were they fed us a samon dinner, it was preaty good for samon. All in all it was fantasic boat ride into the wild.

Day 4 & 5

Day 4 we drove all day through Yukon and British Columbia. We went through the USA border around 8 pm. It was still very bright and sunny. Just seconds after we crossed the border into Alaska we were greeted by a jiant bull moose standing in the center of the road. Just looking at us. It was as if he was saying to us, "welcome to Alaska, you're in my house now!" This was the first moose i've ever seen and much bigger than I was expecting. We ended up driving all night and stopped finally on Friday, Day 5, in Kenia. We visited Jakes Grandpa and then went to lunch with some of his cousins and their kids. We then drove to Seward and camped overnight in a beautiful forest covered with moss and ferns. The campground was just off the beach and just above our site there were two eagles garding their nests. We went to a grocery store and cooked up some veggies and spare ribs over the fire. Delicious!

We are just posting this because there was no internet for us to update the blog during these days.

Day 3

Today we got off to a late start after a wonderful cafe breakfst at Milo's Diner. We drove from around noon till three AM. We had troubles finding an avaliable camp site and had to keep driving and driving and driving. The night drive was AWESOME! and a little scary. We were driving through some forest covered mountains and canyons and we could see a huge thunderstorm in the distance near the horizon. There must have also been a meteor shower because we saw quite a few shooting stars as we were driving. We passed huge herds of elk and buffalo, I would have appreciated this much more if it had been day. Since it was night it was a little scary because we couldnt see them well and did not want to hit one or get charged by one! We finaly found a hotle called Big Horn Hotel in Watson Lake, Yukon Territory. The only room avaliable was a suite with a kitchen, king size bed and a two person Jacuzzi... I'm not complaining!

Day 2

Today we entered the Canadian border. Canada was preaty lame at first, it was really flat and nothing to see. We bought a atlas and we found a seenic route through the rocky mountains through Bannif and Jasper National parks. It was really pretty and a nice drive though the mountains. We went to a cool water fall and went for a little hike. Now we are out of the mountain range in a town called Grand Cach at a best western it will take us a extra hour an a half to catch up to are origial rout to Grand Prarie, but the mountain road was well worth the time.

Day 1

Today we got off to a fabulous start! We drove about 600 miles and stopped for the night at a KOA campground in Great Falls, MT. We've seen some pretty country today and some really flat farmlands too! The KOA is fabulous, It has a hot tub, pool with multiple slides, gardens we can take veggies from, free firewood, hot showers, flushing toilets, friendly people, a blugrass band that plays every night, wireless internet, and free breakfast. Now thats what I call camping!! Tomorrow we are off to an early start and we will be going into Canada. Here at the campground we met some Canadians who gave us a bit of advice about traveling in Canada: Dont pick up hitchhikers. Good Idea, even if we wanted too, they would have to sit on top of buddy! No, No we definatly wont be picking anyone up. This trip is all ours.

Beginings

Finally, the opportunity we've been waiting for! We have been offered a job at a remote resort in Alaska called Chena Hot Springs Resort. www.chenahotsprings.com Jake will be making considerably more than we both are now and I will also have a job at the front desk to keep me busy. Despite violent food poisoning over the weekend from the restaurant Chili's we are planning the next few days in anticipation. We have started packing and deciding what to bring, what to leave, and what to sell. We will be having a garage sale on Saturday, should the road construction be over. We are also selling our truck so that we can take our more gas efficient Jetta with us. Hopefully it sells before we leave and hopefully the Jetta is back from the mechanics by then. We've got Dr appointments today and loads to do before we leave. much to do, much to do, much to do.
